The project consists of a double height extension to the rear of an existing two storey property in Invergowrie. Our clients wished to provide a semi open plan living space, mezzanine to the first floor bedroom linked by a staircase and have the extension opening out to the garden space. There is extensive glazing within the extension, ensuring plenty of light floods into the property, there are a few steps that lead down into the double height, exposed ceiling of the extension. From the top of the steps, there is a spiral staircase which gains access to the first floor mezzanine which accesses the master bedroom.
The mezzanine area provides a reading space for our clients and the area directly below this provides the a similar reading space. There is a small wood burning stove located in the corner of the extension to provide warmth to the room in the cold of winter. There are two large external bi-fold doors that open the extension up to the garden and allow for fluid movement between the internal space and the adjacent garden and patio area.
