House Extension – West End, Dundee

Situated in Dundee’s West-End, the project involved the extensive renovation of an existing 1960s bungalow to form a modern, spacious family home, that looked to take full advantage of an impressive southerly aspect of the River Tay. The brief requirements dictated an extension of the overall footprint to provide a more generous spatial arrangement. The project sought to rationalise the existing layout of the property, predicated on simplifying the internal layout; clearly defining public and private zones with open-plan kitchen, living, dining area to the east and private accommodation wing to the west.

Additionally, the project looked to address the existing entrance to the property which was convoluted and lacking in clarity. The solution to re-articulate the existing entrance with a landscaped pathway. A new entrance threshold was established with wholesale alterations internally. Internal alterations included sectional play with the open plan living space, optimising unobstructed views of the River Tay utilising a valted living space. The outcome paid close attention to finish, providing a fresh, modern family home.
